(Submitter’s note: this takes place in the context of the riots following the murder of 17 year-old Nahel Merzouk, a boy of Morrocan origin shot in the head by police for daring to drive away during a routine traffic stop. Under the spotlight of current events since the Nahel M riots and the serious injury of young Aimène B. (25 years old), hit in the head by what seems to be a shooting of the RAID (riot police) on the night of 29 to 30 June while driving, the commune of Mont-Saint-Martin, near Luxembourg, was again shaken by violence, on the night of Thursday to Friday 14 July.
The Albert-Iehlen primary school, rue de Marseille, was the victim of a fire, probably of criminal origin. The fire was declared on the ground floor of the establishment. On site around 11:30 p.m., on Thursday night, the firefighters managed to extinguish the flames but the damage was considerable and the building was already unusable. “I’m sick of it. We can’t do more, it’s been 10 days since the city is in great pain,” said the Communist Party mayor Serge de Carli, citing the damage by urban violence in the city after the death of Nahel, killed by a policeman during a road check in Nanterre on 27 June.
